How to check wheather AT91SAM7SE512 is alive or not

I am working with AT91SAM7SE512. We have designed our own baord with AT91SAM7Se512 evaluation kit as reference. I am using SAM-BA utility and serial debug port for uploading program to chip. But when I connect to the board , I got the error message
"No valid processor id found"
Can anybody help me to sort out this issue?
Also how to check wheather AT91SAM7SE512 is alive or not?
Hi, I think the first thing to test are the quarts as they must be working for the rest to work. Check also any power pin of the cpu.
Next, you can usually run hyperterminal and see control character send by the bootloader, compare with the developpement board you got.
You can also take a look at the boot sequence in the datasheet, often some jumper switch the mode of the bootloader.
